Mundus Online

A private Skyrim server

Skyrim, with other people in it, and a world where nobody can do everything. A miner mines. A hunter skins. Only an alchemist can pick a flower. You will need each other, which is the whole point.

What happens when you run it

All of it, in one window. You are not editing anything by hand.

  1. It finds your Skyrim. Steam's registry, every Steam library on every drive, then the usual places.
  2. It writes down everything before it touches it. Every file it replaces is copied out first, to a folder outside your game.
  3. It moves your mods aside. The server compares your file list to its own, so mods have to be out of the way while you play. They are moved, not deleted, and you get every one of them back.
  4. It matches the game version if it has to — and it asks you first, because that is the only step that changes Skyrim itself rather than just adding files beside it.
  5. It downloads and installs the client, gives you an id that is yours alone, and starts the game.

And it undoes all of it

Open the launcher again and choose Put my game back. Your mods return, replaced files go back, and everything it added is removed. Nothing is ever deleted — not one file — so even if something goes wrong halfway, it can still be undone.

What you need

Mods are fine — the launcher handles them. You do not need to uninstall anything.

Windows will warn you

It is a small unsigned script from a website it has never seen, so SmartScreen will say "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.

If you would rather read it first, that is entirely reasonable — it is three kilobytes of plain text and you can open it in Notepad. All it does is fetch mundus-launcher.ps1 from this address and run it.

If it goes wrong

The launcher writes down what it did. Send that.

Everything it does is logged to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Mundus\launcher.log. Paste that path into Explorer, send the file, and it will say exactly what happened and where it stopped. Your game will not be left half-changed — if a step fails, it stops and tells you rather than carrying on.
